Craftsmanship and quality in the spotlight:making the Vividus
The lower section
The frame, which forms the foundation of the Vividus,is made from the best pine from Nordic forests.Itstrong and durable, and the corners are dovetailed. This traditional, proven technique makes the frame strong and durable, without needing to use a single screw or nail. And whats more,it looks good.
In order to make the bed as stable as possible, each rib in the frame is sceured in a recessed grooveand secured with wooden plugs. The middle ribs are affixed using dovetailing and securde with oak dowels.
Oak is a traditional Swedish craftsmanship material, and the Vividus is supported on legs made from attractive oiled oak.The legs are securely affixed to the bottom of furniture. It takes an experienced craftsman a week to make a Vividus frams.
The inside of the frame is upholstered with flax. The Vividus base spring system is placed on top of this. Each spring is positioned by hand and the springs are joined to each other with durable thred. The hand-joined spring system makes the Vividus soft and flexible.Flax is also used between the spring to ensure that the spring cannot rub against the wood or against each other,as this would make a noise.
The fabric on the lower section is quilted cotton fabric of the highest quilted .This is nailed firmly to the frame and then covered with a decorative strip of oak which frames the bottom of the bed.
Middle mattress
The middle scetion of Vividus comprises a carefully babanced mixture of horsehair, cotton and wool. The material is arranged in several thick layers to maintain buoyancy and comfort. The middle section has 18 cm thick pocket springs which relieve pressure on your body individually. Each spring is separated so that you can sink down deep into the mattress where needed while supporting the entire length of your body.
The horsehair in the Vividus is prepared by hand, which means that the bed maker has carefully separated the strands to keep them as long and intact ad possible. The horsehair is placed in several thick layers which are then securely stitched to ensure that it is all held in place. This means that your bed will retain its comfort and shape for a long time, giving youmany nights of sound sleep.
The checked fabric is reinforced and double quilted. This ensures that it keeps its shape well and dampens sound in the room. When the middle-section fabric is stitched, the bed maker manually measures where each individual tuft should be.These tufts ensure that the mattress material is held in place. The tufting is carried out using a long nail, and the whole mattress is edage-stitched in the same way for greater stability.
Top mattress
The Vividus top mattress is something out of the ordinary.Hand-prepared horsehair is layered in place within the checked fabric. The mattress in the stitched togerther with a stepped seam. This prevents any seams from catching on one another and keeps the mattress soft and pliable. The top mattress is finished with a blue trim.
When the bed is ready,a final chcek is carried out by the bed maker and signed before being shipped to you.
A personally engraved brass plaque proves that the bed has been manufactured according to your specifications.
